In this phase of research, we investigated the loosening processes of the slings during the linear, periodic movement of different unit loads secured by sling load anchorage and the specific effects of the different cargo end characteristics.
The investigations are focused on the forces generated in the horizontal (loading surface) plane during the transport of goods, such as:
- acceleration or climbing,
- deceleration or descent,
- lateral acceleration, i.e. roll or pitch.
These forces occur under general, normal traffic conditions, and individually, due to their relatively low intensity, have only a minimal effect on load securing, but their large number and repetitive nature make it necessary to analyse their effects over a given interval.
In the tests, loads are accelerated along two different lines of motion. One of the lines of motion is along the longitudinal axis (acceleration, deceleration), while the other is along the transverse axis (lateral acceleration).
The repetitive nature of the forces is produced by periodic motion according to a regular sinusoidal function.
The loads are secured by 2 to 2 straps to the load securing eyes on the moving platform. Both straps are instrumented and the magnitude of the forces acting in the straps is continuously detected from the initial pre-tensioning force through the loosening process until the end of the measuring cycle.
